  Portuguese label Kokölò returns with Rave Child's 'The Calling' EP, backed by a remix by .VRIL.
  In 2022 the label made an immediate impact with its debut release—anonymous artist and founder Rave Child— gaining support from the likes of Laurent Garnier, DJ Sasha and Patrice Baumel. Then label event programmer Alfonsvs made his first outing on the imprint with "Bad Habits EP," supported by a stellar remix from Berghain resident Answer Code Request. It gained attention from Inverted Audio, MNMT and Delayed, just to name a few, and cast a spell on dance floors across Europe.
  On this latest EP, Rave Child chooses to remain mysterious about his identity and let the music speak for itself. The opener “The Calling” is a hopeful techno trip combining a 303-infused bassline with otherworldly pad sounds.
  Remixer extraordinaire .VRIL contributes his signature - loopy distorted textures - to let Rave Child's pads shine with class and edits the title track into a mind- and body- bending voyage.
  The B-side starts with “Good Vibrations”: a Shed-like dance floor rocket for peak hours, sampling Loleatta Holloway in modern style. The record wraps up with “812”: a 135-bpm deep burner melting down distorted drums and rhythmic stabs, with two melancholic piano notes.
  With “The Calling” the label takes an important next step in its journey - it marks its first vinyl release and is again accompanied by the beautiful artwork of David Duarte. ... more
